Pig Workshop

Rare and traditional pigs are what Emma and I like to keep, there are many reasons why this is, amongst them is the fact that if we don't, these breeds many become extinct, there is also the fact that these types of pig are ideally suited to a smallholding setup, they are very comfortable outside...given the right environment, the taste is unmatched by any commercial breed and they are a pleasure to watch.

Our workshop will cover all the basics of outside pig rearing and will cover the following topics:

General Advise
Housing - including bedding, ark material, buy or make.
Fencing - types that work, specific requirements for specific pigs
Feed - a pig nuts guide and some alternatives.
General Health

When you leave us you should have good basic understanding of raising your own free range rare breed outdoor pigs.

The workshop starts around 10am through to 4pm lunch and refreshments will be included and will cost £45.00 per person.

Emma, Finley and I are always interested in hearing from any likeminded folk If you would like to attend this workshop please contact us by e-mailing me at shane@durston.org.uk  or by phone on 07810 562891
